FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are you certified organic?
Yes! We are a USDA certified organic Vegetable and Fruit farm certified by Nature’s International Certification Service.
Must you use plastic packaging?
For food safety and product quality reasons: yes. Putting our greens in plastic clamshells extends their life by two weeks, which allows us to give them a two-week expiration date.
All of our packaging is sourced from post-consumer recycled materials. We are always looking for better options to reduce our plastic use on the farm and will continue to do so.
What energy-efficient practices does the farm use?
The greenhouses, main building, and homestead are heated using a high-efficiency gasification wood boiler, which allows us to burn wood from our property to heat our buildings. The wood burns at a 79% efficiency rate and keeps particulate emissions below USDA Tier 2 emission standards.
Our solar panels offset 75% of electricity used on the farm, and are rotated four times a year to maximize their benefits.
How are your tomatoes grown?
Like all of our crops, our tomatoes are certified organic and grown in soil. Tomatoes are grown in our greenhouses, which provides an ideal growing environment and results in a delicious and nutrient-dense crop.
Do you offer a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)?
Yes! We are a farm member and owner of MI Farm Coop, which is a multi-farm organization collectively owned and operated by its farmer members. To sign up or learn more, visit their website.
Where can I buy cut flowers?
We sell flower bouquets at our Farm Market, Oryana, and Oryana West.
When is the Farm Market open?
The Farm Market is open year-round, but hours vary depending on the season. We always keep our hours up-to-date on our website, Google, Yelp, and social media. The hours are also visible at the Farm Market.
Can we walk around the farm?
The farm is private, and farm tours are available upon request only. Reach out HERE to request a tour.
